Can The Honda Fit Tow?
The answer to this question depends on where you live. The new Honda Fit (labeled the Jazz) is offered in non-American markets and can tow up to 2,000 lbs if hooked to a braked trailer and 992 lbs unbraked. While this maximum towing weight may not seem like much, it is standard as far as other sub-compact cars go.
Any American-made Honda Fit is not designed for towing. Honda does not advise towing with the Honda Fit. If you plan to tow a small trailer anyway, you risk losing your warranty. In the 2020 Honda Fit owner’s manual, on page 405 are these words: “Your vehicle is not designed to tow a trailer. Attempting to do so can void your warranties.”
That pretty much settles it. No towing with a Honda Fit.
Can You Buy A Honda Jazz (Fit) In America?
No, the new Honda Fit models are unavailable in the American market.
How Much Weight Will The Fit Tow Without The Warranty Restrictions?
The Honda Fit’s towing capacity is under 1,000 lbs and should be attempted only by installing a trailer hitch to the vehicle frame. If you exceed this gross vehicle weight rating, you will only cause problems for your car’s suspension and transmission. There is no way to increase towing capacity.
Should you decide to tow without worrying about what Honda thinks, the vehicle’s towing capacity is enough for a small jet ski trailer, dirt bike, ATV, or even a kayak.
Many hitch manufacturers like Curt Mfg and others offer receiver hitches for installation. These hitches bolt onto the frame of the undercarriage and are built for a small ball mount.
Can I Attach a Bike Rack To My Honda Fit?
There are several manufacturers who make racks for bikes that can fit on the back of a Honda Fit. (For a good selection, see etrailer.com). Because a receiver hitch on the back of your Fit is a clear sign that you might have been towing, the offered racks tend to be strap or bolt-on versions.
Does Honda Allow Towing With Other Models?

Passport
The maximum towing capacity for the Honda Passport is based on the number of occupants riding in the SUV with you, depending on whether you have 4WD or 2WD. Honda advises not to tow during the first 600 - 1000 miles of ownership. The company bases the following weights on the assumption that every occupant weighs 150 lbs and the vehicle is equipped with a receiver hitch rated for the suitable capacity.
Please note: Exceeding any weight limit can contribute to serious damage to the vehicle or to passengers riding in the SUV.
Pilot
The Pilot has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs with just the driver and a passenger, which is enough for a small horse trailer, car trailer, or camper.
